2013 Email exchange with Greg Gibbons

Amy,

I wanted to let you know that you will not be on the travel roster this year. I thank you for playing in the few practices and exhibition that we had and hope you continue to work hard to make the travel team in the future. I had to make my decision based on what the needs are for this team and the limited amount of practice we will have before leaving for Kentucky.

Thanks again for your efforts and time,
Greg

Hey Greg,

I'll work on the right side for sure.  This is the highest level volleyball I've ever played, so I'm so grateful for the opportunity.

I'd like to help the team in any way I can (even if that means just being a practice player for now).

Thanks, again, for giving me a chance!

Subject: Dream Team Hopeful Amy Moor (#23) Request for Feedback

Hey Greg,

Thank you for the opportunity to try out with the Northern California Dream Team this weekend.

I am hungry for feedback that will raise my level of play.  Here's what I was wearing both days:
Saturday, March 24th - Gray V-neck and glasses
Sunday, April 15th - Hot pink tank top and black head band

I am prepared to work tirelessly on my own time to improve.  I care deeply about people and I am a natural source of confidence and positive energy.  If I make the team, I will be your ultimate team player.

Thank you for your time and attention to my request.

Humbly and hopefully,

Amy,

Thanks for the email. I won't be able to get to your video until this weekend, but will get back to you next week. I think you are very athletic, but not quite at the level you need to be to make a roster position for this year's team. I will send you some specific feedback and please keep training and come out for next season's team.

I will talk to you next week,
Greg

Hey Greg,

How is the Dream Team coming together?  How did your first practice go??

I'm training hard on my own time, so any expert advice you could offer me based on my tryout video would still be greatly appreciated.

Have a great practice this weekend!  Northern California Dream Team all the way!

Amy,

How are you? Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you. Like I said before, you are a very good athlete in great shape. Some of the things to work on are your platform on passing. Work a bit more on getting it out early and setting the angle to the target. We are also looking for our passes to go high middle (15 – 20 feet high 5 feet off the net). Work on getting more consistent in that area. The other key area is attacking. Work on contacting the ball at your highest point. You have a tendency to hit the ball on the way down. Also, work on hitting the whole court. In looking at your videos, you had a tendency to hit one area and got stuck outside of that area. I think the best way to improve your game is to just play the game. I think you are talented, but need some more experience to get to the next level. I look forward to seeing you next season.

Have a great summer,
Greg
